Background
Sultan Ismail International Airport was known before as Senai International Airport, located at Senai ,Johor Bahru was opened for the operation since 1974. Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd was handling the operations until 2003 before it took over by Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATS).
The airport accepts domestic and international capacity, also freight traffic and become the 4th hub for Air Asia.
The airport was located at strategic development zones becomes gateway to country in Asia to enter 3 port which is Tanjung Pelepas Port, Johor Port and Singapore.
Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATS) has developed of 20 years development around the airport in order to upgrading and enhance the services so that the airport become the world air class airport city.
Sultan Ismail International AirportThe development has three phases:
Phase 1 (2003-2006)
The development of Passenger’s terminal to cater up to 3.5 million passengers.
The development of Cargo Agents warehouse and GSA could carry out 80 000 tonnes capacity per annum.
Phase 2 (2007-2010)
Runway & Aerodrome extension - Extended to 3.8 km of runway to allow for fully loaded wide body aircraft operation with parallel taxiway and apron expansion
Develop Aero Mall – upgrade transportation services
Aerospace Park & Airport Free Zone - Provide basic infrastructure to attract aviation industry, international logistics and manufacturing players
Phase 3(2011-2023)
Develop Senai Airport City Project
